Gondola
Plans are underway for a high-speed gondola (Aerial Cableway People Mover) to connect downtown with the mountain ski slopes in Ogden. Once funding is in place, typical construction time is 12-18 months. Unlike a tram system, the ACPM carries 8-15 people per cabin and detaches from the lift cable to slow down for loading and unloading. With a gondola, there is little to no wait time for boarding (15-30 seconds), and more people can be moved per hour than on a tram. All boarding platforms are ADA compliant for handicapped and elderly people. The proposed route for the gondola runs from the Intermodal Transit Hub to Weber State University and then to Malan’s Basin resort. The gondola will benefit locals and tourists alike, giving people more convenient access to mountain recreation and downtown attractions.
